Wilbert is a saddle tank engine who visited the Island of Sodor back in 1993. He is named after the Reverend Wilbert Awdry, also known as The Thin Clergyman.
Bio
Wilbert first appeared in the fifty-seventh episode, Doubts. It was also mentioned that one of his brothers would be coming to help on The Little Western, but will not be coming for a couple of weeks. That engine, Sheffield left his old railway and helped on Duck's branch line with both passengers and goods. In Sheffield's Secret, he appeared from the same Railway Series story where Wilbert met Duck, Oliver and the Scottish twins, telling them about an engine who went cab over wheels at a steelworks factory.
Basis
Wilbert is based on the real Hunslet Austerity "Wilbert", Sheffield is another member of this class.
